Ecofibre
51,000 SF

The Ecofibre building is a new 51,000 SF LEED Platinum industrial hemp processing and event space located in Georgetown, Kentucky.

Heating and cooling for the building are provided by a distributed geothermal heat pump system. Exhaust and make-up air for Class 7 and Class 8 laboratory spaces are precisely controlled to maintain a constant air change per hour, temperature, humidity, and differential pressure. A fire pump was provided to suppress a rack storage assembly located in the warehouse area. Stored items included miscellaneous items, encapsulated plastic bulk storage, and intermediate bulk storage of hexane, isopropyl alcohol, MCT oil, and hemp seed oil. Advanced plumbing systems include low-flow fixtures and a rainwater/graywater harvesting system.

Electrical systems use high-efficiency LED lighting and active daylighting control systems, paired with Solatubes, to minimize energy consumption. 10% of the on-site energy consumption is provided by a 75 kVA horizontal and vertical photovoltaic array.
