The Boone County Library Walton Branch project consisted of the construction of a new single-story library that is approximately 24,927 square feet. Additionally, this project included new sitework and utilities, concrete substructure and steel superstructure, exterior and interior finishes, and complete building systems.

The HVAC system for this project was a geothermal water-source heat pump system. This system consisted of a pumping system, dedicated outdoor air units located on the roof, distributed heat pumps, and a geothermal well field located in the front parking lot. Heat pumps were located in strategically located mechanical rooms. Wells are drilled to 400’ and would be spaced at 20’ on center. The Dedicated Outside Air System was controlled by Carbon Dioxide (CO2) sensors to increase ventilation only when needed.

Electrical systems included electrical distribution systems for normal systems, lighting and controls, fire alarm detection and notification systems, security/access control systems, and data/communication systems. A 125 kW roof-mounted solar array was designed to provide 50% of the facility’s energy. The facility also featured RGB lighting control for Sensory Rooms and on-site EV charging stations.
