The Bullitt County Public Library was a new 45,000-square-foot central library with state-of-the-art mechanical and electrical systems.
The building’s HVAC system incorporated a classical vertical bore geothermal water source heat pump system with wells reaching to 400’. The lighting system is fully LED and includes various decorative light fixtures and control schemes for different areas. The roof of the Bullitt County Library houses a 40,000-square-foot solar array integrated with a battery storage system. The battery storage system was optimized to store energy from the solar array or at night during off-peak hours, and then discharge it during the day to mitigate peak usage charges. The solar array was designed to offset 50% of the facility’s energy use annually.
