This project was the first expansion for the Filson Historical Society on its current site, located within ‘Old Louisville’, a historical neighborhood first developed between 1883 and 1887 in conjunction with the Southern Exposition. Phase I construction included a new 18,735-square-foot building addition and the renovation of the existing Ferguson Mansion and its adjacent carriage house.
The new building doubled its archival storage capacity and provides a new lecture hall, as well as new flexible-use event spaces that incorporate changing exhibits. Shrout Tate Wilson was responsible for the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design for this project.
