Eastern Kentucky University Dining Facility

A Three-Story Dining Facility Supporting EKU’s Core Campus Revitalization
Richmond, Kentucky
Eastern Kentucky University
68,000 SF

The addition of this new dining facility is part of an ongoing revitalization happening in EKU’s core academic campus. The three-story, 68,000-square-foot facility includes an 800-seat all-you-can-eat main dining hall, numerous retail dining options, a private event area, multipurpose spaces, small classrooms, and offices.

The facility is on the site of the former Case Hall. Prior to the demolition of Case Hall, STW developed and implemented a plan to maintain uninterrupted utilities serving nearby buildings. Domestic water, sanitary, natural gas, fire suppression, low-voltage, and electrical power were uninterrupted during demolition and all phases of construction, except for scheduled shutdowns.

Early in design, STW initiated a meeting with the Owner and led a design meeting with every MEP team involved in the central campus renovations that are tied to or close to our project. STW’s ability to push aside competitive barriers for the common good is an example of true owner-centric thinking. This leadership led to our unanimous, direct selection of STW as the MEP engineer for the renovation of over 200,000 square feet in the Moore, Memorial, & Roark Buildings.
