As Alltech has grown into a worldwide brand, so has their work force. This rapid growth led to the requirement for more office space to house their Finance and Accounting departments, as well as IT, Regulatory, and Human Resources.
This project was a continuation of the partnership STW has established with Alltech. Having completed the design of the Alltech Dueling Barrels project in Pikeville and assisted with various Alltech projects at other locations, STW partnered with Gray Construction to provide mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design for the office expansion. The goal for Alltech, Gray, and STW is to provide a beautiful, inviting, comfortable, and efficient office building.
The 75,000-square-foot, three-story project was a significant addition to Alltech’s worldwide headquarters. Vast amounts of glass for natural day lighting enhance the office spaces, display and museum areas, collaborative meeting rooms, and the 100-seat lecture hall. The crown jewel of the project is a 2,000 square foot conservatory – a steel and glass structure with amenities to host dinner parties, fundraisers, and numerous other events Alltech may host.
The MEP systems for the project were carefully chosen to provide efficiency, reduced maintenance, concealment, and controllability. The mechanical system is a VAV system with an air-cooled chiller and a hot-water reheat system using high-efficiency gas-fired condensing boilers. The all-LED lighting system includes custom centerpiece fixtures throughout for decorative appeal. All MEP systems are controllable via a Building Automation System (BAS), giving Alltech full control over scheduling.
